About Salix
Salix is a family-owned and managed business that was started in 1982 and has always been working in the mechanical services industry. Our focus has changed over the years from heating to full HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) and from contracting to maintenance. We have always targeted the commercial market and covered a wide range of clients from office-based service companies to food production facilities.
We have a team of employed HVAC engineers who carry out the maintenance and repair works. Some works, especially larger installations, are carried out by subcontract labour.
Target Market
Our target market is the maintenance of air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration equipment for Building and Facility Managers working in the commercial market within Greater London.

Brief overview of responsibilities
This role is an essential part of the sales team, facilitating growth through building long-term relationships with new clients. It is an active and rewarding role, working closely with the Business Development Managers to develop and nurture customer accounts.
Key tasks
– Research new customer opportunities and new markets
– Network proactively with like-minded businesses and individuals to build up your database
– Proactively contact prospective customers by phone, email and using social media
– Book appointments and surveys at new customer premises
– Follow up every sales opportunity in a timely and consistent manner
– Where necessary, work with the estimating team to produce client quotations
Skills required
– Professional and confident written and verbal communication skills
– A hunger and tenacity to reach new prospects in new markets
– Ability to proactively plan your schedule in such a way that KPI’s are met and responsibilities are covered
– Good IT skills, including the discipline of keeping CRM system updated with all customer communications
– Be driven and motivated by KPIs and goals, in order to contribute to team targets
Technical Knowledge
The nature of what we do involves a required level of technical knowledge – we don’t require you to come with this knowledge, but we will require you to commit yourself to get an overview of what our engineers do on site and learning industry terminology.
You will be given the chance to visit some sites to help you learn more about what we do, which is an excellent way to pick up the basics. There is also a wealth of online learning resource that will provide valuable learning.
KPIs and Targets
KPI’s would be agreed once you are established in your role, but would likely include measures such as:
1) New Business Customer Interactions
2) Surveys Booked
3) Value of new quotes generated
Other duties
We are currently a small team and you will be expected to be flexible and assist with other business duties to help the team perform, for example in answering phone calls when others are busy.
Reviews
In this role you will have quarterly reviews with your line manager which are for discussing a set agenda which focuses on personal development for the benefit of meeting your personal and business goals.
